Where these names come from
Source: eCode360 Town of Canton Code, Chapter 470 Zoning (Articles I-XX), read via the r.jina.ai text proxy because ecode360.com returns 403 to both WebFetch and curl. Current online edition, amendments listed through 2026-07-17. Districts were assembled from Art. III (Residential), Art. IV (Business and Industrial), Art. V (Design Districts), Art. VI (Other Districts) and Art. X sec.470-1002 (Design Village Districts). Two caveats: (1) Canton's Art. III gives NO individual name to R-1/R-2/R-3/R-SL - the ordinance names them collectively 'Residential (R) Districts' and distinguishes them only by lot area/density, so that collective ordinance wording is used as the label rather than inventing per-code names. (2) Three districts the ordinance defines carry no letter code and are therefore omitted from the code list: sec.470-601 Collinsville Business Overlay District, sec.470-602 Floodplain Overlay District, and the Industrial Park District of sec.470-504 (whose only coded form is the existing 'Industrial Park District 1 (IPD-1)' in Table 470-504, listed below as written). All 10 assessor codes matched.
