Our reading is derived from what is actually built in each district today, not from the code string — a code like R-15 means different things in different Connecticut towns. It is an estimate, and the regulations linked above are the authority.
Where these names come from

Originally effective October 2, 1951; edition effective November 13, 2006; last revision effective July 1, 2026. District list taken verbatim from Section 3.01 'Division of Town into Zones', plus the Industrial Heritage Overlay (IHO) District of Section 6.14. One internal inconsistency: Section 3.01 and Section 6.10 give the Gateway zone the symbol 'G', while the dimensional table (Table 4.04A, row f) labels the same zone 'VG'; the authoritative Section 3.01 spelling 'G' is used here. Assessor codes 'APA' and 'V' could not be matched - the Coventry regulations contain no aquifer-protection district at all (the word 'aquifer' appears only inside the R/A zone name), so APA is almost certainly the state-mapped Aquifer Protection Area layer rather than a Coventry zoning district, and there is no bare 'V' zone (the village zones are VR and VC).
