Our reading is derived from what is actually built in each district today, not from the code string — a code like R-15 means different things in different Connecticut towns. It is an estimate, and the regulations linked above are the authority.
Where these names come from
Read the Town's current PDF 'Stafford Zoning Regulations final 07.03.2025.pdf' (served from https://www.staffordct.gov/ and cms5.revize.com/revize/staffordct/, linked from the Building & Zoning > Zoning page). Cover page reads 'TOWN OF STAFFORD - ZONING REGULATIONS, Effective July 24, 2025'. District list is verbatim from Sec. 1.4 'Establishment of Zoning Districts' (I also cross-checked the prior Effective November 06, 2024 edition - the district list is identical). Labels are exactly as the ordinance writes them after the em dash. All 10 assessor codes matched; the ordinance additionally defines HI, OS, WL and VOD, which do not appear in the assessor data.
