Our reading is derived from what is actually built in each district today, not from the code string — a code like R-15 means different things in different Connecticut towns. It is an estimate, and the regulations linked above are the authority.
Where these names come from
Read the Town of Middlefield Zoning Regulations PDF linked from the Planning & Zoning page: https://www.middlefieldct.org/DocumentCenter/View/1178. Cover page reads 'Adopted: 1/27/2021, Effective 2/16/2021, Latest Revision 02/18/2025'; the amendment table in Section 21.3 runs through amendment #117 effective 07/01/2026 (parking, middle housing, P.A. 25-1 updates), so this is the current edition. District list taken from Section 3.1 (Establishment of Zoning Districts) and cross-checked against Section 4.2 (Designation of Residential Districts), Section 5.2 (Designation of Commercial Districts) and Section 6 (Industrial Districts). All 8 assessor codes matched. Spelling note: the ordinance is internally inconsistent on a few symbols — Section 3.1 writes 'AG 2', 'IPD I' and 'IPD II', while Section 4.2 and the Section 6 use tables write 'AG2', 'IPD1' and 'IPD2'; I returned the latter forms, which are the ones used in the body of the regulations. Assessor 'DD1' is the ordinance's 'DD#1'. ECRD1/ECRD2 are floating zones but permit the residential uses of the AG-2 and MD districts, so they are categorized residential; SFHZ is the flood overlay.
