Our reading is derived from what is actually built in each district today, not from the code string — a code like R-15 means different things in different Connecticut towns. It is an estimate, and the regulations linked above are the authority.
Where these names come from
Read the Borough of Jewett City Zoning Regulations, effective February 15, 2014 with amendments through 08/01/2017, hosted on the Griswold town site (https://cms8.revize.com/revize/griswoldct/Document%20center/Ordinances/borough-zoning-regulations-08012017.pdf). Griswold contains the Borough of Jewett City, which has its own zoning; the assessor prefixes Borough parcels with 'B', which is why these codes are absent from Griswold's town regulations. Section 3.1 names the districts as R – Residential, RM – Residential Multi-Family, RC – Residential/Commercial, C – Commercial and I – Industrial. The ordinance itself uses the B-prefixed forms in Section 10.10: 'the borough residential (br) zone ... Poultry are prohibited in THE BRM, BRC, BC and BI Borough Zoning Districts ... the Borough Residential (BR) Zone', which confirms the mapping directly. Not superseded — this is the current borough ordinance.
