Our reading is derived from what is actually built in each district today, not from the code string — a code like R-15 means different things in different Connecticut towns. It is an estimate, and the regulations linked above are the authority.
Where these names come from
The Municode link is a dead end - Appendix B there is only an editor's note saying 'Zoning regulations are available on the city website.' I read the City's own PDF instead: 'ZONING REGULATIONS, City of New London, Connecticut, Amended To July 7, 2026' (newlondonct.gov, Planning & Zoning file library, Zoning_Regulations_Amended_to_07-07-26.pdf; adopted Nov 3 1983, effective Nov 25 1983). The PDF is a scan with no text layer, so the district list was read from the page image of Article III, Section 300 'List of Districts' (page III-1), cross-checked against the Table of Contents (Articles IV and V). Section 300 writes R-1 and R-1A on one line sharing one name; they are split into two entries here. All 15 assessor codes matched.
