Our reading is derived from what is actually built in each district today, not from the code string — a code like R-15 means different things in different Connecticut towns. It is an estimate, and the regulations linked above are the authority.
Where these names come from
Read the City of Danbury Zoning Regulations, complete PDF (https://www.danbury-ct.gov/DocumentCenter/View/309), 'Effective December 1, 1994, as amended through February 24, 2026', plus the standalone Section 3 'District Regulations' PDF (DocumentCenter/View/313). District names taken verbatim from Section 3.A 'Establishment of Districts'. R3, RH3 and RMF4 are just the assessor's unhyphenated spellings of the ordinance's R-3, RH-3 and RMF-4 - all three are current districts, nothing superseded, no overlay. RM12 could not be traced: it appears nowhere in the current regulations in any spelling (full-text search for 'RM-12', 'RM12', 'RM-', 'RM ' returns only MURM/FIRM hits), and the current multi-family scheme has been RMF-4/RMF-6/RMF-10 since the 1994 recodification, so RM-12 (with its sibling RM-16 in the same assessor file) appears to be a legacy pre-1994 multi-family code. No pre-1994 Danbury ordinance is available online (Wayback's danbury/ci.danbury.ct.us captures start in 2001 and hold only the post-1994 regulations; archive.org has no Danbury zoning ordinance item; the CT Siting Council library carries no pre-1994 Danbury text), so RM12 is returned unmatched rather than guessed.
