Our reading is derived from what is actually built in each district today, not from the code string — a code like R-15 means different things in different Connecticut towns. It is an estimate, and the regulations linked above are the authority.
Where these names come from
Source read: 'Zoning Regulations of the City of Shelton, Connecticut', the city's current posted PDF '2024 SPZC Regulations.pdf' (shelton.qscendcms.com file store, linked from cityofshelton.org). Title page: adopted effective January 3, 1977, amended effective March 11, 2016; posted as the April 2024 recodification. Districts taken from Chapter II, Sec. 21.1 Districts (District / Map Code table). RBD (Restricted Business District) is omitted from the 21.1 table but is defined at Sec. 21.6 and carries its own column in the Schedule of Permitted Uses, so it is included. The 21.1 table prints CB-2 with a stray space ('CB -2'); returned as CB-2. Assessor codes PRD and PRD3 do not exist in the current regulations: the Planned Residence District (PRD) regulations were repealed and replaced by Designed Residential Development (DRD) effective 9/1/2017, so those parcels carry a legacy code.
