Our reading is derived from what is actually built in each district today, not from the code string — a code like R-15 means different things in different Connecticut towns. It is an estimate, and the regulations linked above are the authority.
Where these names come from

Source read: "EAST HARTFORD Zoning Regulations, Planning & Zoning Commission, Effective November 18th, 2025" — https://www.easthartfordct.gov/sites/g/files/vyhlif9241/f/uploads/eh_zoning_regulations_11-18-25.pdf. Codes and names come from Sec. 2.1 (residential), Sec. 3.1 (business) and Sec. 4.1 (industrial) Purposes lists and the Sec. 5.x special-zone headings; the special-zone names were cross-checked against the legend of the Official Zoning Map effective March 25, 2026. All 13 assessor codes matched. Two notes: the 2025 rewrite dropped the R-6 and I-1 zones that existed in the superseded 2013 regulations, and Sec. 5.3 heads DDD-1 with no descriptive name, so the Official Zoning Map legend wording is used for the three DDD districts. Flood Hazard Zone (Sec. 5.1, regulations in Appendix A) has no letter code in the ordinance.
