Our reading is derived from what is actually built in each district today, not from the code string — a code like R-15 means different things in different Connecticut towns. It is an estimate, and the regulations linked above are the authority.

Where these names come from

Municode 403s to fetchers and api.municode.com is closed, so Article 2.0 DISTRICTS of the Hartford Zoning Regulations (2016 rewrite, as currently published) was read via a text proxy of the Municode page, and cross-checked against the official City of Hartford ADOPTED ZONING MAP dated August 9, 2022 (gis.hartford.gov/images/ADOPTED_Zoning_Map_08092022.pdf), whose legend is part of the adopted regulations. Article 2.0 names the district families (Downtown, Main Street, Commercial-Industrial Mix, Industrial, Multi-Use Mix, Neighborhood Mix, Neighborhood, Open Space); the map legend supplies the complete numbered roster plus ROW and the four overlay districts. The code does NOT give each numbered district its own proper name, so labels are the ordinance's family name for that district group rather than an invented per-district name. All 31 assessor codes matched. Note the ordinance/map spell the neighborhood districts with dashes (N-3-1, not N3-1), and the assessor's CAMP and 'CT R' are the map's CAMPUS and CT RIVER overlay districts.
